From the mother – Anna
In your own words, tell us about being pregnant, the mother you have become while carrying new life, and how it’s changed you.
I feel like sometimes I’m in the minority but I love being pregnant. I love feeling this little life growing inside me move. I love watching my belly grow to accommodate this beautiful soul. I never really had any severe pregnancy symptoms so it gives me a chance to appreciate what my body is doing. I feel like I have become an even more emotional mother while carrying my second baby. More in-tune to my son’s needs and wants. I’ve become more patient knowing that our moments together, when it is just the two of us, will be coming to an end. I’m always telling him that he is my #1 man and nothing will change that. Except maybe having another boy… then I’ve got two #1 men in my life!
How did you find out you were expecting?
How did you tell the father?
I left the pregnancy test in the mailbox as if it has been delivered. My husband thought the mail man was playing a prank.
Did you find out the gender of your baby? Is there a name picked out yet?
We have not found out the gender but have 2 names picked out for each sex
How has pregnancy changed you as a woman?
I see women differently then before. We aren’t merely sex objects. We are so much more! Creating life inside us and nurturing it inside and outside the womb. I am a goddess and my body is a temple!
What advice do you wish you had known before getting pregnant (even if it’s something gross)?
I wish I had known not every pregnancy was alike and that’s ok.
What is one thing you find beautiful about being pregnant?
My strength. I continued to do CrossFit throughout my whole pregnancy. To be able to carry my beautiful baby and work out, I felt unstoppable!
What would you tell someone who just found out they were pregnant?
I would tell them to enjoy every second. 40 weeks goes by WAY to fast and you’ll actually miss those little baby kicks.
What has been the hardest part of pregnancy?
Caring for my 2 year old son. Sometimes I felt like my pregnant belly kept me from playing with my son the way he deserves. I feel bad when he would want me to go down the slide with him but I was just too tired to climb up there.
Did you have any pregnancy cravings or aversions?
I want to say I craved chocolate but I always crave chocolate… No aversions either. Lucky I guess 😉
What are your beauty must-haves while pregnant? *
Some nice pregnancy clothes! Sometimes when my clothes wouldn’t fit right I would get really down on myself. When I had clothes that fit and looked great, I felt like I could conquer the world.
Do you have any favorite maternity items you couldn’t live without?
My maternity workout clothes! I swear I live in them. Even when I’m not at the gym, I still rock them
Can you share with our mommies where you purchased the items you wore for your maternity session?
Motherhood Maternity, Target, and Gap Maternity.
Tell us about your session and what the images mean to you.
I love Jina like a sister. She’s like my motherhood match! I have probably been her most difficult client in regards to being completely undecided on everything. I decided the day before we would go up to White Sands, NM to take the photos. I got lost on the way and was so afraid I was going to miss the “magic hour” she wanted. We got there with plenty of time. I had my son and husband in tow. She had her 2 daughters with her, too. My son and her oldest daughter would play together until we needed my son for a picture. He would come barreling in and smile and run off. Her youngest daughter was teething and not feeling well and cried through the whole session but you would never know from the pictures! The pictures mean the world to me. They show me the beautiful family I have created with my husband and the new life we are about to bring into it. I cried when she showed me the images she captured. I’ll never be a family of 3 again but I’ll always remember what we looked like then.Hey there! My name is Jina and I’m a newborn, maternity, child, and family photographer living in El Paso, Texas.
