Due Date? June 4, 2016
How did you find out you were expecting? After disbelieving the first two home pregnancy tests, I finally believed the third one and that’s when I officially knew I was pregnant 🙂
How did you tell the father? He is my best friend and totally aware of everything every step of the way – this includes laughing at me while simultaneously supporting my need for multiple pregnancy tests.
Did you find out the gender of your baby? We did! Though we didn’t plan on it. We did not intend to have any ultrasounds, but when I was measuring large for dates, my midwives advised an ultrasound to see if it was twins. (They run in my family, so it was a big possibility). During that ultrasound, we found out we are expecting a healthy baby boy!
Is there a name picked out yet? We have a list of names we like, but we’re waiting to meet him before we give him one.
How has pregnancy changed you as a woman? I would say the most profound change is that it’s made me even more mindful of my thoughts and actions. Which I think is just amazing because that is probably the best possible preparation for labor and the even bigger task of parenting that lies ahead.
What advice do you wish you had known before getting pregnant (even if it’s something gross)? Take as many naps and baths as possible as soon as you find out.
What is one thing you find beautiful about being pregnant? My growing belly. Even though I’m ridiculously uncomfortable now, it’s still exciting to feel the kicks and squirms and to catch glimpses in the mirror of this perfectly round home my body has made for my baby. A woman’s body is amazingly beautiful.
What would you tell someone who just found out they were pregnant? Enjoy the process. Take pictures of your changing body. Have as much sex as possible while it’s comfortable. Drink lots and lots of water.
What are your beauty must-haves while pregnant? Warm baths with Epsom salts, lavender oil and coconut oil. Repeat often.
Can you share with our mommies where you purchased the items you wore for your maternity session? The black dress was a surprisingly great find from Target! I went in for maternity leggings and fell in love with this dress instead. The silk wrap skirt was a gift from my mom over ten years ago. It’s my favorite skirt.
Kind words about your photographer? Katie was is such a talented photographer. All I wanted was a shoot on the South Fork of the Yuba River and she went and scouted the best locations for me to choose from. I am more than happy with the photos. She captured all the magic I hoped she would. She was kind and thoughtful and provided so much encouragement we couldn’t help but have a great time!
