Due Date? August 14, 2016 but was born August 1, 2016
How did you find out you were expecting? I wasn’t feeling well one morning so I decided to confirm my suspicions with a home pregnancy test.
How did you tell the father? It was the morning of his birthday so I was able to start his day out with the greatest gift ever. We were so excited!
Did you find out the gender of your baby? My husband, family and friends all knew the gender; I on the other hand, had chosen to not know. Surprisingly no one spilled the beans and the secret was kept for the entire pregnancy. The doctor and nurses looked at me a little silly when I asked what “it” was when I delivered, priceless.
Is there a name picked out yet? We decided on a girl’s name fairly quickly, Ava Jane but were having a hard time narrowing down a boy’s name. We had Justin Tucker and Luke Austin picked out.
How has pregnancy changed you as a woman? I have a new found admiration for the body; our bodies go through some amazing changes that you simply have to be in awe of. I have also found a deeper appreciate for myself as I now know what I’m capable of.
What advice do you wish you had known before getting pregnant (even if it’s something gross)? I naively thought pregnancy was going to be 9 months of bliss: luscious long locks of hair, beautiful glowing skin, and the ability to rest. I soon found out that I was wrong, pregnancy affects women differently.
What is one thing you find beautiful about being pregnant? The basic principle that God has chosen you to carry a life and trusting you to nourish and protect this life is absolutely beautiful.
What would you tell someone who just found out they were pregnant? First, congratulations and secondly, enjoy every minute of it. Nine months seems like a long time however, it flies by so quickly so savor every baby kick, hiccup, movement, and craving.
What are your beauty must-haves while pregnant? Getting a simple hair cut provided me with a refreshed sense of beauty. If you are pregnant treat yourself to getting your hair done, or your nails, or a new shirt. Trust me you will feel so much better about yourself especially when you start to gain the inevitable weight. And strawberry milkshakes, you can always feel beautiful eating a fresh strawberry milkshake!
Can you share with our mommies where you purchased the items you wore for your maternity session? I rented the dress from Rent The Runway, it was beautiful and exactly what I was looking for. The website provided great help when looking for a “bump friendly” dress. The necklace was borrowed from my photographer.
Words about your photographer? I would need several pages to fully explain how wonderful Lisa is but to keep things simple she is amazing. She is extremely talented in her craft and a truly genuine woman. She makes you feel beautiful before, during, and after your sessions. She captures pieces of time that you can cherish for many years to come and love those pictures today and years later. I’m so blessed to have met Lisa and fortunate that she was able to be a part of my pregnancy experience. If you are looking for a photographer that will capture beautiful memories, give you all she’s got, and be a great friend Lisa is the photographer for you!
I am Lisa Whitmore, and I am the face behind ShoMore Photography, based out of Fayetteville, NC. Here at ShoMore Photography, we are one of many Fayetteville and Raleigh NC Wedding Photographers. Although our company is primarily wedding photography, our original love began with portraits. With all of our sessions, we love seeing the memories, that we are capturing, unfold before our eyes. There’s something magical when we hand you the images to look at for the very first time, an experience that is so rewarding.
We work with a number of local photographers, but a little about me…I’m an outgoing, southern girl who loves to meet new people. I am a mother to two of the cutest boys around, a wife to an adoring husband and above all, God is my saving grace. Just like any girl, I love to be romanced, adored and make people smile.
Life truly began when I met my husband and we started our journey together over 12 years ago. A few years later, life took a brand new meaning for us when we had our oldest son, then two years later came our baby. Our family became complete.
On most days you will find me in my home spending the day with my two boys and husband. We love spending the days outside, watching movies, and learning new things. One thing I absolutely love is meeting new people. Most people who know me will tell you that I am an open book and a huge talker; so I really can’t wait to meet you and to hear your unique story.
