Due Date? July 10th, 2015
How did you find out you were expecting? We had just started trying and when I went to take a test I thought to myself “There is NO way it could have happened this fast” And sure enough there it was… a positive test.
How did you tell the father? He was out of town on business when I found out and I had to wait four days until he was home to tell him! I bought a dozen yellow and green balloons and attached them to a poem that I had waiting for him when he returned.
Did you find out the gender of your baby? We did! I was convinced it was a boy, but I was wrong!
Is there a name picked out yet? Yes, O’Mara. It was my middle name and my Grandmother’s maiden name.
How has pregnancy changed you as a woman? Pregnancy is such a wild journey. There are incredible highs and lows. At the end of the day it really left me in awe over what the female body is capable of. You can’t wrap your head around the fact that you are growing these tiny fingers and toes and life within you, until you hold her in your arms and realize you created this perfect being.
What advice do you wish you had known before getting pregnant (even if it’s something gross)? To be prepared for how swollen you get at the end! I was nine months pregnant in the dead heat of July and I no longer had ankles.
What is one thing you find beautiful about being pregnant? Feeling the movement of the baby! The kicks were my absolute favorite and it’s something special you have between just you and your child.
What would you tell someone who just found out they were pregnant? Sit back and enjoy the ride as much as you can!. I found myself wanting to just rush through it and get it over with, but then after I had her I actually missed being pregnant.
What are your beauty must-haves while pregnant? Burt’s Bees “Mamma Bee Belly Butter” was the best for preventing stretch marks.
Can you share with our mommies where you purchased the items you wore for your maternity session? Yes! My maternity wardrobe for the shoot came from Xpecting Maternity Boutique in Orange County.
Words about your photographer? Jennifer Gilmore is always my go to photographer for our special moments. She and her husband make you feel so comfortable and ALWAYS get the best shots. She did our maternity and newborn photos and these are images we will have as keepsakes for the rest of our lives.
