Alyssa & Brad Dey welcomed their beautiful baby boy Corvan into the world on January 14th, 2015. When I launched my wedding & portrait photography company several years ago, Alyssa was one of the first brides who booked me as her wedding photographer, and I have been delighted to have them as clients and friends ever since. I shot the couple’s maternity session in December of 2014, and then in January, just ten days after little Corvan was born, I photographed the new family in their home. I encouraged Alyssa and Brad to do a lifestyle session, where I approached the shoot in a photojournalistic manner, as they interacted naturally with their newborn. I did very little posing in the situation, and they were very relaxed and comfortable as we oohed and aahhed over the sweet little baby, while I discreetly photographed the family’s beautiful emotion and interaction. I used only ambient window and indoor light, and did minimal post editing, to keep the feeling of the images natural. Alyssa, Brad, and their respective families were so delighted to see the unstaged beauty and joy that was captured in their images! We finished the session with a few posed shots of baby Corvan wrapped in his knit caterpillar outfit, inspired by the book The Hungry Little Caterpillar.
