My name is Lauren Ashley DeBernard, my little Prince is expected to arrive on October 14th of 2015. In my earlier stage of about 3 weeks pregnant I caught a very bad cold, which of course I didn’t think anything of it, took medicine and I was totally fine. A week later my BFF called and wanted to meet for a girls day, just to catch up on things, and I remember saying to her “It’s so weird that I haven’t started my menstrual cycle yet” wide eyed, we both looked at each other and crickets chirped. That very moment I had a gut feeling that I was expecting my first bundle of joy. The day I told my son’s father that we were going to be parents was literally like God came from heaven and opened his heart, I can remember the exact outfit I had on, at the exact time of day and being in the midst of 85 degrees in the Arizona heat saying “ok, this can make us or break us.” We stayed up all hours of the night talking about how “SHE” would look – my hair, his nose, my eyes, his ears and so-on. Shortly after a sweet sight to see, we were having a BOY! Elijah Layken Melvin, was his name. Pregnancy has changed me as a woman by instantly realizing how strong and BEAUTIFUL I am to overcome so many trials but still standing strong for the sake of my child. Advice I wish I had known before becoming pregnant, would have to be, no matter what situation you may face, you are NOT alone and God is with you every step of the way. Don’t get discouraged, because he has a reason.
My 3 must have’s during my pregnancy were: Tums to help with heartburn aka a head-full of hair babe, Mambino Organics Oh Baby! Belly butter for stretch marks and an itchy tummy, lastly; a body pillow for sleepless nights. There are a million and one different things that make pregnancy so beautiful, but my top fav. Would have to be our glowy-dewy skin. I would encourage anyone who is just receiving news about becoming a mommy that there are so many amazing blessings that come out of being a parent and I feel as though every women should be able to experience that.
My beauty must have’s 101:
• Exfoliation – to enhance the pregnancy glow, exfoliate regularly, I love using my Clarisonic Plus!
• Nail polish – I did research and found which lacquer brands are 3-free and 5-free, some of my favorites are “Butter London”, “Chanel” and, “OPI”
• WATER! Dress it up with lemon or other fruit infusions, get a cute refillable water bottle such as glass or BPA-free plastic and stay hydrated gal.
I think the maternity shoot is a fun way for us moms to “get dolled up” and make yourself feel like YOU again. My first look, was more elegant but see-through to really enhance my little bump, The navy blue lace peplum dress came from Zara with a fitted bodycon dress underneath (which I cut out) then paired it with little-sexy’s bralette and boy short’s from Forever21 in the same shade of navy. My second look was more of a risqué, natural, Mother Nature look – matching bralette and lace panty came from Forever21 in a matching nude set and the white floor length sleeveless button-up was purchased at Urban Outfitters.
I couldn’t be anymore amazed and pleased with my photographer from her beautiful uplifting spirits down to her amazing talent behind the lens. She captured every angel of the breath taking morning sunrise in such a timely manner. Her location was to die for, and almost didn’t even feel as we were in Arizona, the corn fields above our heads to the open grassy areas surrounding made it feel so much like home. She was so great to work with!
