I was scheduled to be induced on a Monday night – about three days before my actual due date. On Monday, January 26th my husband and I were out of our minds excited to finally meet our little guy. We had everything ready for the trip to the hospital: towel inside the car in case my water broke, car seat in the back for the baby and both of our hospital bags. Now had we known the baby was not ready to make his big debut we would have packed for a longer stay. I was induced for over 48 hours and by Wednesday evening there was zero progress (not even dilated 1 centimeter!) and I was beyond exhausted. After speaking with the doctor we could have gone back home or moved forward on a C-section. The thought of getting dressed, packing our stuff back up and heading back home with no baby wasn’t an option I wanted to consider. So it was decided I would have a C-section. Two hours later, we were introduced to our little boy and the sounds of his baby lungs in action! As the doctor held him up we quickly counted all of his fingers and toes and prayed he was as healthy as he looked. Alex Reid was born on January 28, 2015 at 1:59pm, 7lbs 2oz.
My husband and I were very nervous about getting our 8 day old son to remain calm long enough to get his photo taken – multiple times and in multiple outfits. As soon as we walked into Rochelle’s studio we felt better. The studio was filled with white noise and warm air to ensure the baby remained calm. Before even touching the baby Rochelle sat by the space heater and warmed her hands – it’s the little things like this that made such a difference in the overall demeanor of our baby.
We watched as Rochelle transformed our baby from fussy to calm, awake and wired to sleepy and were in awe. It was clear by the end of the session that Rochelle loves her work and you literally see it in every photo. She has an innate ability to capture a moment that originated with the baby crying to a serene photo with a perfect little newborn lying in peace. We were beyond pleased and felt really lucky to have found such a talented newborn photographer to shoot our little boy.
His name is Alexander and was a complete joy to have in the Studio.
