Tell us a short version of your birth.
To avoid any unnecessary details, it was a very LONG 28+ hours of labor but ended with a perfect little guy!
What was the first thing you thought when you held your new baby?
It’s a boy!?! Then I couldn’t believe that he was actually mine!
What was the first day home with baby like?
It was crazy having a baby at our house…it didn’t feel like he was ours at first, almost like we were just babysitting him for a little while! But then he stayed for the night…:)
What are your newborn must-have purchase items?
Swaddle Me swaddles (seriously, a life saver)!, Rock and play, and a Maya sling
What postpartum advice for women getting ready to have their own newborn?
It truly does take a village! Accept the help when it’s offered and don’t feel guilty for a second- people want to love and support you and baby. Also, take time to eat good food, take a shower and even take a nap at least once a day!
Something you wish you’d known before having a new baby?
I don’t know if there’s anything that can prepare you for the changes that occur with having a newborn- just be excited for it and you will figure it out as you go!
One thing that you believe is beautiful about being a mother?
I love how quickly he calms in my arms… (usually)!
Words about your photographer?
Michelle Kujawski was phenomenal. She was laid back and super easy to work with, making a photo session with a newborn stress free (which I imagine is hard to do)! She was able to come into our home and quickly set up a beautiful background. I would recommend her to any family!
Hi! I’m Michelle and I’m a lifestyle and wedding photographer based in Delafield, Wisconsin. My goal is to capture clean, beautiful and timeless images with a style that is natural, fun and emotive. I got into photography because I love creating pretty photos, but I continue to grow my business because of how much I love working with people. It brings me so much joy to connect with couples and families to tell their story through photos. Photography is not a job for me – it is my creative outlet and passion in life.
