In your own words, tell us about being pregnant, the mother you have become while carrying new life, and how it’s changed you.
I love it! I have seriously been blessed to not have any issues thus far. No problems with sickness or strange cravings. Minus a bit of back pain in these last couple months, I have really enjoyed the growing process and have loved seeing what my body has been cape able of doing.
How did you find out you were expecting?
I had a feeling for a couple weeks that I was pregnant, so when the time was right I peed on a stick, then low and behold I was pregnant.
How did you tell the father?
He had just left for a 5-day motorcycle trip, and for some strange reason, I took the test the day he left. When he came home I pretty much jumped on him and said I had something to tell him. I let a target card do most of the talking and then he looked at me in disbelief. Afterward, the joyful tears set in for both of us. Neither of us was planning or prepared to have a kid, but we can’t be more excited now about what is to come.
Did you find out the gender of your baby? Is there a name picked out yet?
It’s a girl. We have a name but have decided to spread the word of it after she has been born.
How has pregnancy changed you as a woman?
It has already taught me to be patient. My husband will tell you that I’m a bit of a busy body and that I spend most of my time trying to make things perfect. I was a pretty active person until I’ve been about 7 months along. While still taking short walks and hikes, I have really learned that this kid comes before myself and that taking it down a notch is a minor sacrifice in making sure things go smoothly. Sure I’m upset with her sometimes that she’s in there and that I can’t run, lift heavy weights, but it is all worth it knowing that she’s healthy.
What advice do you wish you had known before getting pregnant (even if it’s something gross)?
Just the back pain, so far
What is one thing you find beautiful about being pregnant?
How it has added some curves to my body. I love the feeling of being an incubator. Truly that’s what my body was made for and it’s a miraculous process.
What would you tell someone who just found out they were pregnant?
You can do this!
What has been the hardest part of pregnancy?
Once again just the pain in my lower back, icing it has been the cure!
Did you have any pregnancy cravings or aversions?
What are your beauty must-haves while pregnant?
Nothing out of the norm. I have tried to keep up with some things that I have neglected, like using my Anne Marie moisturizer and spending more time on my hair with conditioners and coconut oil making it soft. Coconut oil goes all over the belly daily!
Do you have any favorite maternity items you couldn’t live without?
A really cool ice pack my husband bought for me. I have no idea what it’s called but it’s amazing.
Can you share with our mommies where you purchased the items you wore for your maternity session?
Both the rust colored crocheted bikini top and dress I borrowed from my friend came from Target.
Words about your photographer? Tell us about your session and what the images mean to you.
Not only is she a close friend but she’s crazy talented. We literally had no idea where we were gonna go for the photos or what we were gonna do. But there was never any doubt in my mind that she would think of something brilliant and that it would be a magical afternoon. I just love her to pieces.
