Birthing A New Love: A Birth Story | Jax Creations Photography
A new baby is like the beginning of all things – Wonder, Hope, a dream of possibilities.

I have birthed 5 beautiful children with each of those BIRTHdays being all different and deeply special. To finally meet this little person, this blessing you have carried for 9 months, is the most amazing moment in a woman’s life.
But to witness a birth of a child- to be a part of that emotional journey… that is indescribable.
I got to meet this sweet mom a few months before her due date. Our first meeting was getting to know each other and we honestly just bonded so easily and so naturally. I knew before I walked out her door that this adventure of documenting her birth was more than a paying job. I cared so much about this amazing woman, her birth dreams and desires as well as her excitement. And how blessed was I to be that she chose me to document this upcoming moment; her BIRTHday.
As soon as I received her call that she was admitted in the hospital and had started laboring, I could not get out the door fast enough. Maybe it was because my memories of my own births were still fresh in my mind. All that anticipation of meeting your new little one- what will this little one look like… how long will I have to wait to finally see this little face. I knew too, she was feeling all those things also. I truly loved being there for her in this stage. Helping when and where I could- getting her calm through contractions and being a smiling face on the other side of the contractions. What a strong and courageous momma she is. Her focus and breathing was nothing like I have ever seen before. My heart was racing the whole time. I sat quietly in the corner as the nurses started setting up things to care for a new baby and I watched how her husband came to her side with no words exchanged and was just there for her. No instructions were needed- just a man who loves his wife and doing what he could to be right there for her.
As the big moment was coming quickly, I crawled up in the highest back corner as I could- to still be there as a supportive member but more importantly to document this amazing moment that she will forever remember. As her new little one entered the world, I too cried with happiness, right along side of them. The long awaited hours of the end was quickly over and now suddenly lay this beautiful and amazing creature. A new baby girl. Ten tiny fingers. Ten tiny toes. Perfect and is now all snuggled against her momma.
Birthing a baby is truly amazing, but to witness and document a birth… well, that is just breath taking!
If there was anything I had to say that I regretted during the birth of my own children, it would be that I did not have anyone to document that journey for me. As the birthing mom, we go through so much and we learn to put ourselves in a place to really concentrate and close out everything around us to get to hold our baby. So many things I missed- the details of the room, the clock at the moment baby was crowning, the reactions of my loved ones, my reaction as I held my new precious little one, the movement of the room- anything. But for today, I am so glad that I was able to do something that means so much for another mom. Now she gets to see her story over and over again.
