When was your Due Date?
May 29, 2015
How did you find out your were expecting?
This was my second pregnancy and we were really trying to have a second baby before our daughter was one. Our wedding was Sept 6, 2014, it was a crazy time and I didn’t notice feeling any different, two weeks after the wedding my period was a day late.. I took a test at home and it was POSITIVE!! I was so excited, best wedding gift ever.
How did you tell the father?
My husband Daniel had just left to run some errands, I was trying to wait till he got home but I couldn’t! I called him and said “I took a pregnancy test” and he already knew, he was so happy!
Did you find out the gender of your baby?
We found out the gender at our 20 week ultra sound… ITS A GIRL!!
Did you have a name picked out?
I always like to think of unique names, our first daughters name is Araya (a-ray-a sunshine!) So with our second I loved the name Capri – but my husband didn’t he liked Cahlia which I didn’t like, so we settled for Cali (spelt short for California) there is always Araya of Sunshine in Cali! (Yes were cheesy!! Lol)
How has pregnancy changed you as a woman?
Pregnancy is such an amazing experience, the feeling of life inside of you is unexplainable! For me the mothering instinct kicked in right when the pregnancy test said positive, everything became a worry, Should I drink this? Should I eat this? Should I work out? What if something happens to the baby? You soon realize that you will forever worry and this little bundle of joy will come before everyone including ourselves. Going through pregnancy has helped me understand woman on a whole new level and I am so thankful for that.
What advice do you wish you had known before getting pregnant?
Haaha I am a very honest and open person so this could be a little to much information for some! First, I wish I had known more about round ligament pain – I always thought something was wrong but the pain is totally normal, Second, the amount of discarge during pregnancy is crazy!!! Which is also totally normal! Lol. Third, we should all discuss breastfeeding more, everything from the stages after birth – colostrum, milk, engourgement, nipple pain, baby’s latch and our options aside from breastfeeding. I breastfed my first and am currently breastfeeding my second but there have been times they got formula top ups – which worked for us! Its just nice to know your options!
What are your 3 must have pregnancy items?
Only three! Stretchy tank tops and leggings, diclectin and Mc Donalds fries (for nausea), tums, pillows, WATERMELON and poptarts!
What is one thing you find beautiful about being pregnant? Having a baby belly (6 months+) I always rubbed my belly!
What would you tell someone who just found out they were pregnant?
Embrace every day… Its okay to give into cravings! If it’s your first pregnacy go on dates and enjoy doing things in the spur of the moment!
What are your beauty must haves while pregnant?
A little face powder, mascara and lip gloss
Words about your photographer?
I met Erin from Erin Sweet Photography in the summer of 2013 regarding our wedding for Sept 2014. Erin is such a sweet, honest, caring woman and as a bonus her packages and prices are amazing!! We have used Erin for all or our family photos including our wedding, she is absolutely wonderful and I would highly recommend her!!!
Hi there! I am an Edmonton and area photographer who loves capturing those special moments in life. I find it so amazing getting to know the parents at the maternity session and then weeks later meeting their little ones. Newborn Babies always have sweet smiles squishy little toes and tiny button noses. I am a natural light photographer, which gives my images that soft and airy feel to them.
