I am a wife to an amazing man, mother of two busy boys and one baby girl! When I am not chasing them around, I am a natural light photographer based out of the Fraser Valley, specializing exclusively in newborn, maternity and family photography. I consider it a great honour to be able to capture these amazing moments in others’ lives- from the anticipation and excitement of pregnancy, to the joys of meeting their newborn all the way to capturing these precious ones growing! When possible, I love to shoot outdoors, in the gorgeous BC landscape!
From the Mommy:
My name is Rachel Havinga and I work for myself as a busy hair stylist from my home. I love it! I’d say I love the flexibility, but the truth is I work long and hard hours! I support my family with my husband who stays home with our almost three year old son, Jude. He has also started building and selling furniture so it’s busy busy all the time for us! Stepping into pregnancy (while having an energetic little boy) is something I was a little anxious about! This pregnancy has been quite different than the last one. Every fear I’ve have or discomfort I feel, I’m reminded when I look at my son it all ends so fast! As a full time worker, I’ve realized from pregnancy and being a mom how important a great partner is. My husband has been my anchor! Whether reassuring me that my changing body is beautiful or making me all the foods I can stomach that week, I couldn’t do any of this without him. In fact, he picked out my dress for this photo shoot! We love soft, bohemian looking dresses and were fortunate to come across this one completely out of season! February is not an easy month to find a dress apparently! I’m feeling very curious about having another baby. How will my firstborn respond to a little buddy? And how will we manage with two boys?! It’s okay not knowing how it’ll all work, because it always does work out. I’m so excited!!! I had a great delivery with my first and feel confident and supported by my family as the second delivery is so quickly approaching. The way my husband and I share our little family may not work for everyone. We’ve learned that what works for us, many people may not understand. He takes on primary caregiver role when baby’s three months of age so I can take clients. This works as we both are at home, and we both are so happy in our unconventional roles! Doing this photoshoot gave me the quiet space to reflect on the new baby and have that time to capture these moments we have before our life changes again with the new arrival. I don’t have that opportunity often and I’m so glad we took the time to have a great photographer work with us and make it happen! I couldn’t be happier!
