Louise, Stewart, and their little girl Esme headed out to a local park and nature reserve, for some beautiful family photos shot on film. Little Esme was adorable! Louise gave birth just over a week later to baby boy Bertie. Enjoy these beautiful lifestyle family maternity photos and advice from Louise below.
Blmommy: How has motherhood changed you as a woman?
Mom: Being a mommy is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I suppose there are all the obvious changes like being more responsible, having to be more organised (or trying to be!). But also just being completely selfless and knowing that my children will always come first before anything else.
Blmommy: Tell us a little about your family?
Mom: Our family is now myself, my husband Jon, our daughter Esme who is 3 and our latest addition Albert or Bertie as he is known to us most of the time! Esme absolutely loves her little brother to pieces and is such a great big sister, she has adjusted really well to his arrival. Jon and myself feel really blessed to have two such beautiful children and we really couldn’t be happier right now.
Blmommy: What is one family tradition you have raised your children with?
Mom: We have a few annual traditions revolving around Christmas/Easter/Birthdays but one which is a more regular tradition is sitting round the table to eat and as often as possible to do this all together as a family. This is just a really nice family time where we can all talk about our day and just be together as a family.
Blmommy: Favorite family vacation?
Mom: This is really a split between two different places. The first being Esme’s favourite which is Butlins. It’s just a really great holiday for kids as there is so much for them to do come rain or shine it is packed with shows and activities to keep them busy and is also located right on the beach. However when we are looking for a more relaxing sort of holiday we love going to the Isle of Wight. It’s a really beautiful place and everything just seems to go at a much slower pace which is sometimes just what you need with all the rushing around of family life nowadays. Plus Esme loves the ride over on the ferry.
Blmommy: What advice would you give new mothers about raising children?
Mom: The main piece of advice I would give to new mothers is just to trust your instincts on everything. It is only natural that you will doubt yourself but trust me you are doing fine! It’s so easy to get caught up with whether you’re doing everything the ‘right’ way because so many people will be keen to offer you their advice and opinions and sometimes this can be really helpful but don’t worry if you are doing things differently to other people. You just have to do what works for you and your family and that is all that matters.
Blmommy: What are your beauty must haves as a mom?
Mom: My first beauty must have is under-eye concealer. This has been my key to looking semi human after all those disturbed nights and just makes me feel that little bit better about walking out the door in the morning. Secondly has to be dry shampoo. I’m not the best at time management and after sorting out both children in the morning I have to make do with whatever time is left to get myself ready and this doesn’t always allow time for hair washing! So on mornings like this I have a quick dip in the shower then reach straight for my dry shampoo.
Blmommy: Words about your photographer?
Mom: We found Jay online after our daughter Esme was born and we decided to get some newborn photos done of her. We absolutely loved the photos Jay did for us so when we found out I was pregnant again it was an easy decision to use Jay again. I decided this time that I would really like some maternity photos done as well involving both Jon and Esme as this would be the last pictures of us together before our new addition. So Jay booked us in for the maternity and newborn shoots and she didn’t disappoint. She is really easy to work with and just makes you feel relaxed straight away. Esme loved her and Jay was really good with her. I would definitely use Jay again in a heartbeat.
As a creative destination photographer, I’m far from dull and traditional; my imagination is fuelled by my 2 adventurous and creative boy kiddos – aka “The Smalls”! They help me remember the importance in laughing, fun and adventure. Like they do, I dream big and enjoy every moment I can.
In my free time, I can be found learning crazy new tricks with my hula hoop. Or enjoying rum/champagne-based cocktails. Sometimes playing cello with my boys (which I played professionally for over 15 years). Quite regularly, I’ll be learning “how to train a dragon”. Or building, destroying and rebuilding all manner of intricate Lego creations. Perhaps eating some insanely delicious food in one of my favourite restaurants. Sometimes I’ll be crocheting fingerless gloves, and the tiniest amigurumi things you ever did see!
Things which fill me with joy, in no particular order: Fine dining, chocolate/vanilla coffee, my kitty cat “Archie”, silver jewellery, lovely friends, hula hoops, The Smalls, driving, laughing, rum, vintage camera geekery, crocheting tiny things, cuddles, Champagne, travelling, good manners and bacon… 🙂
